HOW ISLAM ABOLISH SLAVERY

Image
Ali Abubakar Sadiq · July 17, 2016 Recipient of Cambridge University award for journalist on science and religion The issue of slavery is one of the most misunderstood and abused issues in Islam but God has clearly cleared the matter. The slavery issue is of two dimensions but were confused into one. As long as humans exist there would be wars and as long as there would be wars there must be PRISONERS OF WAR. That is the first category and chief source of slaves. Slaves were part of human wealth during the revelation of the Qur'an enshrined in the economic system of the then world. Slave children automatically becomes slaves. In order to abolish slavery in its entirety, God employed the perfect strategy. First he commanded 8:67 “It is not for a prophet to take prisoners before he subdued land (in war). You desire the material of this world but God desire the heareafter“ The times of skirmishes to catch slaves was over for Muslims from this verse. The only valid way to acquire new p...

CLONING

Ali Abubakar Sadiq · March 15, 2019 Recipient of Cambridge University award for journalist on science and religion Only God can create life Q21:30 “We have created every living thing from water: will they still not believe?” God claims he created every living thing, but for those who deny his existence and role as the architect of life, the burden of proof is on them as God rightly challenges them in the Quran Q22:73 “O men here is a parable set forth listen to it. Those on whom, besides God, you call cannot create even a fly, if they all met together for the purpose ” Life is surely explicable in terms of the laws of physics and chemistry and all the various steps involved on how life evolved on this planet is very well understood, except for the origin which is “marred by stumbling blocks and crevasses”. The problem of the origin of life “Has turned out to be much more difficult than I, and most other people, envisaged” says Stanley Miller, the leading experimentalist on the origin o...

IS HIJAB COMPULSORY?

Image
Ali Abubakar Sadiq · August 1, 2017 Recipient of Cambridge University award for journalist on science and religion Originally Answered:  Is hijab an obligation in Islam? Remove Banner I am a Muslim, a father and husband. I told my wife and daughter, as free individuals, they may choose to or not to wear the hijab as it is only a culture and identity not a compulsory religious act. They, however must dress decently as the Qur'an has commanded by covering their bosoms and extended below the knee. But if they chose to add beyond what was required of them... It is their choice. Hijab was originally a semitic culture informed not by religion but by environment. In fact that is why in the past (and to some extent today) semite men wear the turban too to protect themselves from extreme sun heat and desert dust. When Islam came it gave out the basics in dress code for women Qur'an 24:31 "Tell the believing women.... Not to display their beauty except what is apparent thereof, and ...

How is the end of the world explained in the Quran?

Image
Ali Abubakar Sadiq · April 6, 2017 Recipient of Cambridge University award for journalist on science and religion I am quoting the answer from my Book   “Science and Scriptures: Friends or Foes” “…then when one blast is sounded…And the earth is moved. And its mountain and they are crushed to powder at one stroke" When the reserves of nuclear fuel in the sun are depleted, it will explode and swell engulfing the inner planets, including the earth, in hot gases that will completely vaporize them as if they are crushed into powder as the above verse claimed. This event is further explained in the following verse Q75:7-9 "At length when the sight is dazzled and the moon is buried in darkness and the sun and the moon are joined together" As the sun is depleted of its nuclear fuel, the violent explosion blow out the outer layers of the sun into the neighboring space in all directions, this ejection will glow and dazzle any onlookers on the solar system (If any alive). The ext...

Will physics ever be able to explain consciousness?

Image
Ali Abubakar Sadiq · August 2, 2017 Recipient of Cambridge University award for journalist on science and religion Physics had certainly opened the door in explaining consciousness for over a century ago and the pioneers in this field (Einstein and colleagues) shows that Quantum Theory and  consciousness  to be mutually exclusive, otherwise there never would be any human means of discovering it;  ever.  Quantum Phenomenon and  consciousness  being mutually exclusive would mean that Quantum Phenomenon would  remain  out of the human frame of reference indefinitely. The fact that we have seen it, detected it, measured and quantified it means that there is overlap between  consciousness  and the Quantum realm. Therefore, they (the founders of Quantum Theory) set about discovery experiments to determine which possibilities were true, one the irreversible result of the other, or the two being interdependent, or simply that they coexist. Every...
