CLONING
Only God can create life
Q21:30 “We have created every living thing from water: will they still not believe?”
God claims he created every living thing, but for those who deny his existence and role as the architect of life, the burden of proof is on them as God rightly challenges them in the Quran
Q22:73 “O men here is a parable set forth listen to it. Those on whom, besides God, you call cannot create even a fly, if they all met together for the purpose”
Life is surely explicable in terms of the laws of physics and chemistry and all the various steps involved on how life evolved on this planet is very well understood, except for the origin which is “marred by stumbling blocks and crevasses”. The problem of the origin of life “Has turned out to be much more difficult than I, and most other people, envisaged” says Stanley Miller, the leading experimentalist on the origin of life. Simon Conway also said “life cannot be created in the laboratory, nor is there any clear prospect of it happening...….It was effectively a fluke-like happening, a one in a trillion chance, perhaps the emergence was almost a miracle” Likewise Francis Crick says “An honest man, armed with all the knowledge available to us now, could only state that in some sense the origin of life appears at the moment to be almost a miracle”. In Sir Karl Popper's opinion, the breakthrough of molecular biology, far from solving the problem of the origin of life, has made it, a greater riddle than it was before. Darwin theory of evolution had quite remarkably explained descent with modification but it doesn’t explain the genesis of it. Darwinism starts with life already here and Darwin accepted that organisms are “designed” for certain purposes, that is, that they are functionally organized. Darwin himself famously sought to sidestep the issue of the origin of life by placing it outside of his explanatory framework, maybe realizing that that is jumping into teleology. What pitted religious circles with Darwin’s natural selection is his exclusion of God as the explanation for the obvious design for organisms. The secret of life is far beyond the realm of physicality alone, or scientist would have already created an artificial life. Michael Ruse asked what kind of substance is life? Rocks never had it, a dead cow had it and has now lost it, you and I have it.
Whoever denies that life in the first place and through all times came through the power of the spirit of God then let him and all his Gods, be it images, people, forces or scientific knowledge create one of the lowliest of creation "The fly", nobody can do that. God in his infinite wisdom allows some of his great Prophets like Jesus, Ezra etc. to bring back to life dead bodies. This act is in no way akin to creation. No one has ever assembled matter and gave it life and no one can do that to the end of time.
Jesus was created without human father, his mother Mary was chaste, pious and chosen one. God had exonerated her from any ill, though some ignoramuses accused her of adultery. God says
Q3:42 "Behold the angels said "O Mary! God has chosen thee and purified thee, chosen thee above the women of all nations".
God testified to all that Mary was his chosen one and she is free from any ill she might have been accused of and had given her the rank of the most exalted woman in all peoples, past, present and future! Why and how did Mary earn this position? The reason why God chose Mary out of the billions of women, past, present and future, as the most exalted woman of all times was because it is through her that God practically proved that he is the only one capable of creation and he created Jesus in her womb without the human father which defies the established reproduction laws in humans. God says
Q3:59 "The similitude of Jesus creation before God is as that of Adam" (
Adam was created by the assemblage of inorganic matter on which God breathed his spirit and behold the first form of life emerged. Likewise the breathing of God spirit into the womb of Mary similarly created Jesus. This process was parthenogenesis (from a Greek word Parthenos meaning "Virgin" and genesis meaning "Birth") many animals including Aphids, brine shrimps, some species of fishes, frogs and lizards are known to have reproduce asexually through parthenogenesis. But throughout all human history no human ever reproduce in this way except Mary. Cloning as it is now called started and is abundant in nature, not only God, but Man is now able to produce cloned animals. If not for the ethics and many nations opposing the application of cloning on humans, the first man would have already been cloned long ago. Scientists now have three ways to produce clones: the blastomere separation, the blastocyst division and the somatic cell nuclear transfer. People should not confuse creation from inorganic matter with cloning. Cloning is an extension of living matter through an existing single parent, just like Jesus being a clone of his mother. Beginning with Dolly the sheep in Scotland, man had been able to clone the higher mammals and in due course would be able to clone humans too. No matter how advance we can be in genetic engineering we can only produce clones or even control genetic make-up by insertion or removal or certain genes. But creating a new form of life from inorganic matter is beyond our ken from now to eternity.
