HOW IS THE QURAN PROTECTED FROM INTERPOLATIONS?
God used mathematics to protect the Quran from interpolations of all kinds. Mathematics, the premier of the sciences, is the foremost example of a field where reason reign supreme, where emotions do not enter, where we know with certainty and know that we know; Where the truth of today are truths forever as mathematical proofs are unaffected by space and time. Today, in 21st Century, to prove anything without leaving any room for doubt, we must employ mathematics.
If God, as Galileo asserts, wrote the universe in a mathematical language why didn’t he also compose his revelations in mathematical codes even just to silence Dawkins and Co? Well, God did just that. As mathematics is being developed gradually so God also employ math’s in the scriptures gradually. Beginning with the Old Testament, we have seen how Moses came down the mount with the Ten Commandments. Why ten? Why not five or twenty? God use the number to enable the primitive herdsmen to memorize the commandments by using their fingers (10) to count them. We had the beginning of mathematics in the scriptures with simple Arithmetic. In Genesis 6 we learnt how God taught Noah basic geometry on how to build the ark.
The Bible codes (Torah codes) center on the Hebrew Torah text, the five books of Moses. There is some evidence that key words which are historically/logically related have their equidistant letter sequences (ELS) in a more compact geometric arrangement in the Torah text than expected by chance.(1) What does a typical ELS look like? Well, suppose we start with the sentence, "All of our avenues are wide." To locate ELS in a sentence like this, we eliminate the spaces and look for words that could be formed from letters that are equally spaced within the string of letters that form the sentence.
If we start with the second letter (L) and then eliminate, or skip, three letters to pick up the next letter of the code (O), and so forth, we will find the word, LOVE within the string. Like this:

LOVE is an equidistant letter sequence (ELS). Such codes can have a skip of any length and can either be forward or backward. The Codes are equally spaced letters forming meaningful words and phrases in the original Hebrew Bible, the Torah. The topic was discussed in the middle Ages by leading Kabbalists.
More than 50 years ago, a Jewish rabbi (H.M.D. Weissmandel) noted that if you start with a T (tav) in the first verse of the book of Genesis, skip 50 letters, pick up a V (vav), skip another 50 letters, pick up an R (resh), skip another 50 letters, and pick up an H (heh), you have TVRH, or Torah as it is spelled in Hebrew. Now this occurs, mind you, not only in the first book of the Torah, but also in the first verses of the books of Exodus and Numbers. It also appears in the first chapter of the book of Deuteronomy. In each case, there is also a skip of exactly fifty letters.
The Qur’an being the last testament was mathematically composed in such a way that the chapters, verses, words and number of certain words conforms to a mathematical pattern and even a formula. Why would an ancient book be composed in such a way? God reply
Q56:78 "(Conveyed onto man) in a well guarded divine writ".
It is only mathematically that the purity of the text will be guaranteed. God learnt through the previous scriptures the need to personally safeguard his messages. Previous scriptures had suffered the act of omission, commission and distortions. The mathematical beauty of the composition is, on the one hand so simple that kindergarten children could understand, but on the other hand what I call “stupid numbers” are used that one needs a computer to ascertain them (as local calculator contains only nine digits). A novel idea is the use of the number 19 with remarkable intricacies as the basis of Qur’an mathematical system. 19 possess unique mathematical properties, for example:
-It is a prime number (divisible only by itself)
-It is a combination of the first numeral and the last numeral (proclaiming God’s attribute as the alpha and omega)
-It is the sum of the first powers 9 and 10 and also the difference between the second powers of 9 and 10
-It is the numerical value of the word “One” (One God of monotheism) in all scriptural languages, Aramaic, Hebrew and Arabic.
God chose 19 to interlock the Qur’an because of the reasons he advanced in Q74:30-31 “Over it (The Qur’an) are Nineteen…and we have fixed their number only as a trial for unbelievers in order that the people of the book (Jews and Christians) may arrive at certainty and the believers (Muslims) may increase in faith and that no doubts may be left for the people of the book (Jews and Christians) and believers (Muslims)”
God therefore employ Mathematics (the science of the infinite) to unveil one of the greatest miracle known to mankind so that the theists will have ultimate proof beyond a shadow of doubt that the scriptures are really divine
THE SIMPLE FACTS
God started composing the Quran with a simple sentence “In the name of God, the beneficent the merciful” this sentence in its Arabic form consist of 19 letters and the word “In the name” occurs in the entire text 19 times. The second word “God” occurs in the entire text 2698 which is a multiple of 19 (19×142). The third word “Most Gracious” occurs 57 times=19×3, likewise the fourth word “Most merciful” occurs 114=19×6. Every word that occurs in the opening sentence of the Qur’an is a multiple of 19.
The opening statement occupies a special position in the Qur’an as it is the heading of every chapter except chapter 9. The absence for this heading in chapter 9 had puzzled Qur’anic scholars for 14 centuries. In fact many theories were advanced to explain this phenomenon. As it turns out this is also part of the mathematical composition that has been intricately built into the Qur’an. Since the Quran has a total of 114 chapters (19×6), the missing opening of chapter 9 should made the total of the opening statement 113, which would not be a multiple of 19. However, if we start counting from chapter 9, we find the missing opening compensated for, exactly 19 chapters later, in chapter 27. This chapter contains two of this sentence, one as an opening and the other in verse 30. Not only the missing one in chapter 9 found 19 chapters later, but the chapter and the verse number in which it is located also adds up to 57 (27+30) which is a multiple of 19 (19×3). Also if we add the chapter numbers starting from chapter 9 (with the missing opening) up to chapter 27 (with the extra opening sentence) (9+10+11+12+13+14+15+16+17+18+19+20+21+22+23+24+25+26+27) the total is 342. This total is a multiple of 19, as it should be since the sum of any 19 consecutive numbers is a multiple of 19. Finally if we count the number of words from the first opening sentence in chapter 27 to the second opening sentence found in verse 30 of the same chapter, we find that the total is exactly 342 (19×18)
The word “Qur’an” itself occurred in 38 different chapters of the book i.e. 19×2. There are 114 chapters in the Qur’an which is 19×6, and the total numbers of verses in these chapters are 6346 i.e. 19×334. The very first revelation given to Muhammad consists of 19 words and the total number of letters making up the 19 words is 76 which is 19×4. The first chapter to be revealed if counted from the last one is positioned at the "Nineteenth Position" and the complete chapter has 19 verses. The last revelation, chapter 110 consists of 19 words and its first verse is 19 letters. Qur’an introduces the use of initials at the beginning of 29 of its chapters, which for centuries scholars failed to explain.
Today mathematics has enabled us unravel the mystery.14 different Arabic letters, form 14 different sets of those initials and they prefix 29 chapters, these numbers add up to 14+14+29=57 which is a multiple of 19 (19×3).
Intermixed between the first initial chapter (Ch 2) and the last initialed chapter (Ch 68) are 38 non-initialed chapters that is 19×2. Let’s examine some of those initialed chapters that begin with one initial. Chapter 50 begins with the initial “Q”, this chapter consists of 57 “Q’s” that is 19×3. Another initialed chapter is “N” which also consist of 133 N that is 19×7. “S” is another initialed chapter and “S” occurred 152 times=19×8. On the two-letter initialed chapters we have “Y.S” that the total numbers the two letters occurred is 285=19×15. The “H.M” initial is found in seven consecutive chapters (40 through 46) and the total occurrence of these two in all the 7 chapters is 2147=19×113. Coming to the three letter initials, let’s pick ALM. This combination, ALM, consists of the most frequently used letters in the Arabic language and in the same order as we see in the Qur’anic initials. This combination prefix six chapters (2,3,29,30,31 and 32), the total occurrence of the three letters in each of the six chapters is a multiple of 19.
-chapter 2: 9899=19×521
-chapter 3: 5662=19×298
-chapter 29: 1672=19×88
-chapter 30: 1254=19×66
-chapter 31: 817=19×43
-chapter 32: 570=19×30
Remarkably the total occurrence of the three letters in the six chapters is 19874=19×1046. Finally we take the four letter initials. We take the ALMS. This combination is found in chapter 7 and separately the letters occurred thus: A=2572, L=1528, M=1165 and
S = 98. The total is 5363 which is a multiple of 19 (19×282).
There is so much of this in the remaining 24 initialed chapters.
The Qur’an also mentioned 30 different numbers in the entire text these are:
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,19,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,99,100,200,300,1000,2000,3000,5000,50,000 and 100,000. The sum of these numbers is 162,146 which is a multiple of 19 (19×8534). The Quran itself is mentioned in the text 57=19×3. Days are mentioned in 365 places as months are mentioned 12 times. The five daily prayers enjoined on Muslims (which is the most important act of worship in Islam) has been divided into 2 Raka’ats for early morning, 4 each for mid afternoon and late afternoon, 3 for dusk and 4 for the final one in the night.
If we arranged the numbers side by side 2,4,4,3,4, we get 24434 which is a multiple of 19×1286=24434. (7) Finally the Prophet entrusted with the promulgation of this scripture was born in 570 AD=19×30.
THE LESS SIMPLE FACTS
I will only take one aspect of this part: As mentioned earlier, the first sentence in the Qur’an consists of 19 letters and each of the four words occurs as a multiple of 19 in the whole text.
This sentence also appears 114=19×6.
Using a table consisting of serial number 1-4, the 4 words, letters of the individual words and their gematrical value (The gematrical value of a letter is the numerical value assigned to it. There was a universally accepted numerical system where letters of the Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek and Arabic alphabets were used as numerals).
The above table conformed to the following formula 1? 2? 3? 4? =n
Where 1-4 represents the four words
? Represents any integer number
n the resultant number is a multiple of 19
1. For example we will use the serial number 1 followed by its letter number 3, then serial number 2 followed by its letter number 4 and serial number 3 followed by its letter number 6 and finally the serial number 4 followed by its letter number 6. This will give us a sequence 13243646 an 8 digit number 13243646=19×19×36686
2. Replace the number of letters in each word in the above example by the total value of that word: 110226633294289 will give us 15 digit numbers 110226633294289=19×5801401752331
3. Replace the total gematrical value of each word in No 2 above with the gematrical value of every letter in that word; that is instead of using the total 102, we use 2,60,40. Thus A1260402130305313020084050413020081040 which will be a 37 digit number 1260402130305313020084050413020081040=19×6633695422659542210966863843162160
4. We now add the sum of the gematrical value and letters, i.e. the sequence of each number followed by 105 (adding 3+102), then 70 (4+66) and so on. 110527033354295 will give us a 15 digit number 110527033354295=19×5817212281805
5. Replace the total gematrical value used in No 2 with the gematrical value of the first and the last letter in that word e.g. 102 is replaced by 42 the sum of 2 and 40 (first and the last letter) and in the second word 66 is replaced by 6 (sum of 5+1). It will be like this 14226351441 giving us an 11 digit number 14226351441=19×748755339.
I am stopping here not because that is all but to ask a question. Could all this be coincidence? It would be incredible for the four words and the 19 letters of the opening of the Qur’an to result in so many numerical combinations based on the number 19. The combinations are not haphazard but follow a very consistent formula. What is the probability for the mathematical composition to be a coincidence? Let’s compute the probability. The probability of several random numbers being not only in a certain format, but also forming a number “n” that is a multiple of 19, can be difficult to compute unless we make some assumptions to simplify the problem. For example, the highest probability of obtaining “n” will be when we assume that the four numbers represented by the question mark in the formula (1?2?3?4?=n) are all single digit number (0-9). In that case, the resultant number n will have 8 digits since we know that the other four numbers are also single digit (1-4). We can then easily compute the probability of 8 random numbers resulting in the desired format. Let us see how we can do this. Imagine that we are playing a lottery; this lottery requires that we draw 8 numbers that are between 0-9. Anyone who satisfies the following conditions wins the jackpot.
1. The first number must be 1
2. The third number must be 2
3. The fifth number must be 3
4. The seventh number must be 4
5. All the numbers when put side by side must form a number that is a multiple of 19
The resultant 8-digit lottery numbers can vary anywhere from 00000000 to 99999999. This means that there are 100 million possible combinations. How many times will the above winning condition be satisfied out of this many combinations? In order to answer this question, a computer program was written to go through every number from 0-99,999,999 and determine all the numbers that will satisfy the desired conditions.
This program found only 527 such numbers which ranged from 10,203,247 (the first possible combination) to 19,293,949 (the last possible combination). Therefore, the chances of winning this lottery are 527 out of 100 million (or 1 out of 189,753). Based on this information, we can say that the probability of the occurrence of the mathematical phenomenon described in 1 above is 189,753 to 1. And the probability of it also occurring in No 2 above is the same as winning our lottery twice. To determine the probability of winning the lottery twice, we multiply 189,753 by 189,753=36,006,201,009. In other words, the probability of the mathematical phenomenon in No 1 and No 2 occurring by coincidence is less than 1 in 36 Billion. In comparison, in the California State lottery where six numbers are drawn out of 51, someone has to buy about 18 million $1 tickets to cover every 6-number combination for the grand prize.
Therefore, the chance of winning California lottery, 1 in 18 million is much better than the chances of the mathematical phenomenon in No 1 and No 2 above.
Certainly, it is very wrong to assume that theists believe in God blindly. God loves those who demand, even from him, proofs and valid reasons. Remember when Abraham asked God to show him how he created life from the dead, God readily assisted him to perform an experiment to realize how nature was programmed in accomplishing that task. No intelligent person will accept blindly the existence of God or scriptures. Qur’an being the last testament comes with mathematical proof to convince our science oriented mentality that yes there is a God and he communicates through revelations with mankind. In fact Galileo couldn’t be more right, God really wrote the universe using mathematics as he claimed in
Q72:28 “He also encompasses all their surroundings (the universe) and keeps a count of each and everything”
Could Muhammad that lived in the Dark Age at the darkest corner of the world, produce such mathematical beauty? If you say yes then God challenged
Q11:13 “Say to them “Make up ten chapters of similar merit, invented (by yourself), and to this end call to your aid whoever you can, other than God, if what you say is true”
